Unless you have been living in a cave or on a desert island, you have already heard that VH1 will air the first ever stand alone Holiday episode of RuPaul's Drag Race this coming Friday December 7th at 8PM EST. Festively titled RuPaul's Drag Race Holi-Slay Spectacular, the one hour program will feature eight fan-favorite Queens returning to the Werk Room and Main Stage to compete for the title of Xmas Queen. We're already so excited, we thought we'd give you a breakdown of the Queens you can expect to see shucking and jiving once again Holiday style for this special episode.
1. Shangela Laquifa Wadley
Halleloo! Since we last saw her controversial Top 4 finish on All Stars Season 3, Shangela has been busy! She was a commentator on the US Eurovision Song Contest, has voiced a character for the English language version of Netflix's Super Drags animated series, and most notably, appeared in the feature film A Star Is Born alongside fellow Drag Race alum Willam Belli and Lady Gaga, who reportedly handpicked her for the role. Shangela can be expected to pull out all the stops for this Christmas spectacular, as she has competed on three separate seasons of Drag Race and has never won. #justiceforshangie
2. Jasmine JUSH Masters
Since leaving Season 7, partially downed by a shady beard, Jasmine Masters has steadily grown a dedicated fan base with her raw, opinionated YouTube videos, her fierce dedication to the art of Drag, and her unabashed love of the herb. Not only competing in the Holi-Slay Spectacular, the Meme Queen will also take her shot at the Drag Race Hall of Fame on RuPaul's Drage Race All Stars Season 4, which premieres the following week. What her strategy in the competition this year will be is anybody's guess, but we can be sure that Jasmine will bring her Jush and will have something to say!
Latrice Royale will also return for All Stars Season 4, but first, we'll get to see her slay for Xmas, chunky, funky, large and in charge as ever! She won Miss Congeniality following her Season 4 run, and enjoys the love and admiration of her many fans and every Queen she has performed with. Although she won't be joined by her All Stars Season 1 partner Manila Luzon for the Holiday Spectacular, Latrila will be reunited, but will compete individually, for All Stars Season 4.
4. Kim Chi
Fresh off a busy schedule of performing globally with the Werq The World Tour, promoting her successful collaborations with Sugarpill Cosmetics, and defending her title as Queen of Shade, Kim is ready to strut her stuff on the Main Stage once again. Expectations for her legendary high-concept looks run high. Her low key personality has always been one of her most winning attributes, so get ready to fall in love with her all over again in this upcoming special.
Sonique was the first Queen to come out as trans following her RuPaul's Drag Race Season 2 appearance. Since then she has transitioned and has continued to perform her signature sexy, athletic, acrobatic dance numbers in venerable Drag revues. Fans can expect to see how Sonique's style and performance have matured in Holiday themed challenges and exciting runway looks.
Mayhem just competed on Season 10, but has since become even more iconic for a viral video and the many memes featuring the exaggerated eye choreography and deadpan mugging she brought to a lip sync performance from years previous. While she exited fairly early on in her season, she won the first challenge for sewing, so don't count out this talented Queen who is known for serving up gorgeous out-of-the-box lewks.
Boisterous, fun, and frisky, Eureka excited the judges on Seasons 9 with her bigger-than-life personality and memorable performances. She was sidelined by an injury, but was invited back to compete for the crown on Season 10 and made it all the way to runner-up. If what we have seen from The Elephant Queen on the show and in her live performances since being on the show is any indication, drag fans can expect Eureka to bring proportionized fabulousity to the Xmas special and to show off her jolly personality, which is sure to win points with the judges.
Trixie stalled out on Season 7, but took the crown on All Stars Season 3. Since and in between, she has achieved cult status for her collaboration with fellow Season 7 favorite Katya on World of Wonder's Unhhhh and Viceland's The Trixie & Katya Show. She has also recorded and released two chart topping country folk albums (Two Birds and One Stone), produced three successful solo comedy tours in addition to headlining the Hater's Roast, guest starred on multiple seasons of American Horror Story, also collaborated with Sugarpilll Cosmetics, and voiced a character on Super Drags. As one of the most popular and well-known Queens from the Drag Race stable, Trixie will enter the Holi-Slay Spectacular with plenty of high expectations, both for her runway presentation and her notorious frank opinions —not to mention her position as the only formerly crowned Queen in the competition.
Eight Queens, one crown, and plenty of glitter and cheer to go around! In this one hour special, we could see an all new competition format of chalenges, performances, and runway walks to winnow the eight down to finalists in such a short time. In any case, we can't wait to see who will receive the honor. And to cap off the festivities, the show promises a first look at the tea, shade, drama, and lewks of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars Season 4, which begins the following week on December 14. Don't forget to tune in for RuPail's Drag Race holi-slay Spectacular on December 7th at 8PM EST on VH1.
